Redshirt-junior Alex Gomes (Peabody, Mass.) allowed just one unearned run over seven innings of work, but the 10th-ranked Southern New Hampshire University baseball team left 11 runners on base in a 1-0 loss to Adelphi University on Saturday afternoon at Bonomo Field.

KEY MOMENTS
- After Southern New Hampshire stranded a pair in the top of the fourth, Adelphi took advantage of two errors by the Penmen in the home half of the frame to push across what would be the game's only run.
- SNHU would leave a runner in scoring position in each of the final five frames, including the eighth inning when it left the bases loaded.

- Sophomore Ricky Alexy (Needham, Mass.) struck out one in a perfect inning of work.
- Freshman Christian Mercedes (Providence, R.I.) went 0-for-3, but walked twice.
NOTES
- Southern New Hampshire, ranked 10th in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II Poll, has its eight-game winning streak snapped, but is still outscoring its opponents, 87-20, over the last nine contests. Adelphi, which is receiving votes in the NCBWA DII Poll, has now won four-in-a-row since dropping its season opener.
- In his last three starts, Gomes is 2-1 with a 0.81 ERA, giving up three runs - two earned - on 16 hits, while striking out 24 and walking four, over 22-and-a-third innings.
