Redshirt-junior Dakota Mulcay (Goffstown, N.H.) homered twice and drove in five runs Thursday, as the 20th-ranked Southern New Hampshire University baseball team opened the season with a pair of victories against Stonehill College at Lou Gorman Field. The Penmen rolled to a 10-2 win in game one, before edging out the Skyhawks, 3-1, in the second game.

KEY MOMENTS - GAME 1
- With two outs and the bases empty in the top of the first, graduate student Marcus Chavez (Queens, N.Y.) walked to extend the inning before Mulcay swatted a two-run homer that made it 2-0.
- Mulcay would later cap a three-run fourth with a two-out RBI double that made it 6-0.
- In the sixth, redshirt-freshman Danniel Rivera (New Britain, Conn.) extended the Penmen lead to 8-1 with a two-run shot.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE - GAME 1
- Mulcay finished 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs scored, a double and pair of walks.
- Goldstein was also 2-for-3 with an RBI, two runs scored and a walk.
- Henrie was 2-for-5 and drove in a run.
- Chavez went 1-for-3, scored twice and walked twice.
- Redshirt-freshman Michael LaRocca (Vero Beach, Fla.) and classmate Christian Mercedes (Providence, R.I.) were both 1-for-4 with a walk and a run scored.
- Rivera was 1-for-5 with a pair of RBI and a run scored.
- Freshman Trevor Anibal (Bedford, N.H.) struck out one and walked three in a hitless inning of work.
- Redshirt-junior Scott Webster (Newburyport, Mass.) tossed a perfect ninth and struck out one.
KEY MOMENTS - GAME 2
- SNHU again jumped out to an early lead in the first inning, as Rivera led off the game with a walk and went to third on Mercedes' double down the left field line. A wild pitch brought in the first run before Mulcay delivered a sacrifice fly that made it 2-0.
- Mulcay would come through again in the fifth with a two-out solo job that pushed the Penmen lead to 3-0.
- Stonehill would bring the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the seventh, but only brought in one run.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE - GAME 2
- Mulcay was 2-for-2 with two RBI and a run scored.
- Sophomore Kieran Dowd (E. Islip, N.Y.) went 1-for-2 with a walk in his Penmen debut.
- Mercedes finished 1-for-4 and scored a run.
NOTES
- Southern New Hampshire, ranked 20th in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II Poll, is 2-0 for the first time since 2018 and the fourth time since 2012.
- Mulcay's home runs were the 15th and 16th of his career, breaking a tie at 14 with Al Molin (1985-88) and Carson Helms (2014-16), and moving him into a four-way tie for fifth place on SNHU's all-time home run list.
- Rivera's long ball was the first of his career.
- Praml extended his streak of not allowing an earned run to 26 consecutive innings before relinquishing the run in the final frame.
