Redshirt-freshman Michael LaRocca (Vero Beach, Fla.) and redshirt-junior Dakota Mulcay (Goffstown, N.H.) each hit home runs and graduate student Wesley Tobin (Portsmouth, N.H.) fired a two-hit shutout in the opener, as the 20th-ranked Southern New Hampshire University baseball team took two more from Stonehill College on Saturday at Lou Gorman Field. The Penmen blanked the Skyhawks, 8-0, in the first game and posted a 7-4 win in game two.

KEY MOMENTS - GAME 1
- SNHU scored a run in each of the first three innings and, after scoring twice in the fourth, put up two more in the fifth on RBI singles by LaRocca and redshirt-junior Idelson Taveras (Lawrence, Mass.) that made it 7-0.
- Mulcay capped the scoring with a solo home run to right in the top of the seventh.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE - GAME 1
- Tobin retired the first eight batters he faced and did not allow a hit until the fourth inning. After allowing back-to-back hits, he then set down the final 12 he faced.
- Mulcay finished 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs scored and a walk.
- LaRocca was also 2-for-2 with an RBI, two runs scored and a walk.
- Rivera was 2-for-3 with a run and a walk.
- Taveras went 2-for-3 with an RBI, run, walk and two stolen bases.
- Chavez was 1-for-3 and scored a run.
- Redshirt-junior Sam Henrie (Middleboro, Mass.; run) and redshirt-freshman Christian Mercedes (Providence, R.I.; RBI) were both 1-for-4.
KEY MOMENTS - GAME 2
- SNHU was ahead, 2-1, when it hung a five-spot in the fifth, highlighted by a two-out, three-run homer to left off the bat of LaRocca that made it 7-1.
- Stonehill would trim the deficit to 7-4 and get the tying run to the plate in the ninth, but redshirt-sophomore Ricky Alexy (Needham, Mass.) came on to get three straight outs and nail down the win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE - GAME 2
- Graduate Nick Artymowicz (Seaville, N.J.; 1-0) started and allowed one run on two hits over five innings, while striking out a career-best 11 and walking four.
- Chavez went 4-for-4 with a double, two RBI, a walk and a run scored.
- Graduate student Joshua Goldstein (Haverhill, Mass.) was 2-for-4 and scored a run.
- Rivera finished 2-for-5 with a run.
- LaRocca was 1-for-4 with three RBI, a run and a walk.
- Mulcay went 0-for-3, but walked twice and scored a run.
- Redshirt-freshman Daniel Owens (Ridge, N.Y.) gave up one run - unearned - on one hit, while striking out two and walking a pair in an inning of work.
- Junior Taylor Lepard (Toronto, Ontario) tossed two innings and was charged with two runs on three hits, striking out three and issuing a walk.
- Alexy fanned two in a perfect inning to collect his first save.
NOTES
- Southern New Hampshire, ranked 20th in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II Poll, is 4-0 for the first time since 2018.
- The Penmen outscored the Skyhawks, 28-7, over the course of the four-game series.
- Mulcay's home run was the 17th of his career, breaking a tie at 16 with Riley Palmer (2012-14), Ryan Gendron (2015-16) and Ryan Sullivan (2017-18), and moving him into a two-way tie for fourth place with Caleb Potter (2017-18) on SNHU's all-time home run list.
- Rivera's long ball was the first of his career.
- The 11 strikeouts marked the fifth 10-strikeout game of Tobin's career and were one short of his career high of 12, which he set March 24, 2019 in a 1-0 loss at the University of New Haven.
