Redshirt-junior Alex Gomes (Peabody, Mass.) fired a two-hitter in game one and nine different Penmen drove in a run on the day, as the 12th-ranked Southern New Hampshire University baseball team swept a doubleheader from Saint Michael's College on Saturday at Duffy Field. SNHU rolled to a 14-1 victory in game one and then rallied for a 13-6 win in the second game.

KEY MOMENTS - GAME 1
- The game was scoreless until the fourth inning when RBI singles by redshirt-freshman Christian Mercedes (Providence, R.I.) and Rivera, followed by a two-run double to right-center from Dowd, gave Southern New Hampshire a 4-0 advantage.
- The Penmen doubled their lead to 8-0 in the sixth on sacrifice flies from Dowd and Mulcay, followed by a pair of two-out unearned runs.
- After SNHU added single runs in the seventh and eighth, it hung another four-spot in the ninth. Goldstein's RBI single to left-center started it, before a two-out double to left-center off the bat of Mulcay and a two-run base knock to right from redshirt-freshman Michael LaRocca (Vero Beach, Fla.) made it 14-0.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE - GAME 1
- Gomes retired the first 10 batters he faced until a hit batsmen in the fourth inning. He lost his no-hitter to the lead-off batter in the sixth and then retired nine-in-a-row before running into a bit of trouble in the ninth.
- Goldstein was 2-for-2 with an RBI, four runs scored, two walks and two stolen bases.
- Rivera finished 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI, three runs scored, two walks and two steals.
- Taveras went 2-for-4 with a run, a walk and a steal.
- LaRocca was 2-for-5 with a pair of RBI, a run and a walk.
- Mulcay (double, 2 RBI, 2 runs, walk), Dowd (double, 3 RBI, walk, steal) and Mercedes (RBI, 2 runs, walk, steal) were all 1-for-4.
- Chavez (run, walk) and redshirt-sophomore Alex Kennedy (Braintree, Mass.; RBI, walk) each were 1-for-5.
KEY MOMENTS - GAME 2
- Run-scoring singles in the top of the first from Dowd and Chavez staked the Penmen to a 2-0 lead before an error and three hits against redshirt-junior Jeffrey Praml (Bridgewater, N.J.) in the home half put Saint Michael's on top, 4-2.
- The lead would last until the top of the sixth when SNHU scored six times, highlighted by an RBI double to right from Mulcay and a game-tying, run-scoring single from Taveras. Goldstein was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to drive in the go-ahead run and the first of four unearned in the inning.
- The Penmen lead was 9-6 when they piled on four more in the seventh to break it open. An RBI single from Rivera, a run-scoring double by Chavez and a two-run homer from Mulcay polished off the scoring.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE - GAME 2
- Praml went all seven innings and was charged with six runs - four earned - on eight hits, while striking out seven and walking two.
- Chavez turned in a 4-for-5 performance with a double, two RBI and a pair of runs scored.
- Mulcay went 3-for-5 with a double, home run, three RBI and two runs scored.
- Rivera was 2-for-4 with an RBI, pair of runs, a walk and a steal.
- Taveras finished 2-for-5 with a pair of RBI, a run and a steal.
- Goldstein (RBI, two runs, steal) and Mercedes (run, steal) were both 1-for-3.
- LaRocca (walk) and sophomore Bryce Reagan (Amherst, N.H.; run) were each 1-for-4.
- Dowd finished 1-for-5 with an RBI, pair of runs and a steal.
NOTES
- Southern New Hampshire, ranked 12th in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II Poll, is 10-0 for the first time since 2016.
- The Penmen are outscoring their opponents, 101-20, over the first 10 games of the season.
- Mulcay's home run was the 19th of his career, breaking a tie with Derek Bauer (2015-17) and moving him into a second-place tie with Jeff Weakes (1995-98) on the program's all-time home run list.
- This marked the first outing of Praml's career in which he allowed more than one earned run.
