Franklin Pierce Pulls Away from Women's Lax in 22-12 Win

Sophomore Angelina Graziano (Riverhead, N.Y.) and junior Erin Gorton (Kennebunk, Maine) each notched four points Friday afternoon, as the Southern New Hampshire University women's lacrosse team ended its regular season with a 22-12 loss to Franklin Pierce University at Penmen Stadium.

KEY MOMENTS
  • In a high scoring first-half, Franklin Pierce was clinging to a one-goal lead with just over 10 minutes to play when it reeled off four straight and six of the next seven to open up a 13-7 advantage with 3:27 remaining. Renaud would then score twice in the final 1:16 to trim SNHU's halftime deficit to 13-9.
  • Graziano would pull the Penemen within three just 2:01 into the second half, but the Ravens would score nine of the final 11 markers to pull away.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Junior goalkeeper Caela McCartney (Arvada, Colo.) stopped three shots over the opening 38:15, while freshman Megan Petko (Monroe, N.Y.) also made three saves in the final 21:45. Franklin Pierce's Erin Blake stopped one shot in the opening half, with Casey Butera turning away away four of seven in the second.
  • Graduate student Dani Tompkins (Derry, N.H.) and sophomore Avery Galle (Shaftsbury, Vt.) also scored goals for SNHU.
  • FPU outshot Southern New Hampshire, 37-25.
  • Draw controls were even at 18 apiece.
  • Franklin Pierce was 8-for-11 on its free-position opportunities, while SNHU went 0-for-3.
NOTES
  • SNHU is locked in as either the No. 6 or 7 seed for the Northeast-10 Championship, which begins Friday, April 30. The Penmen will earn the sixth seed with one Saint Michael's loss in its final two contests. The Penmen would go on the road to the No. 3 seed if they earn the sixth seed or to the second seed should they wind up No. 7.
  • Renaud continues to lead the team in goals (25) and points (28).
WHAT'S NEXT
  • The Penmen will play an NE10 Championships first round tilt Friday, April 30 on the road at a time and opponent to be determined.
