Season Draws to Close for Women's Lacrosse with 17-3 NE10 First Round Loss at Assumption

Graduate student Dani Tompkins (Derry, N.H.), sophomore Avery Galle (Shaftsbury, Vt.) and freshman Shelby Cole (Gilford, N.H.) all scored goals Friday evening, but the fifth-seeded Southern New Hampshire University women's lacrosse team saw its season come to an end with a 17-3 defeat to fourth-seeded Assumption University in an NE10 Championship first round contest at Brian Kelly Stadium.

KEY MOMENTS
  • Holding a 2-1 lead nearly 11 minutes into the contest, Assumption ripped off six straight and eight of the final nine goals of the half to bring a 10-2 advantage into the break.
  • The Greyhounds kept it going in the second half, finding the back of the net four straight times to open the second stanza and then closing it with three-in-a-row.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Junior goalkeeper Caela McCartney (Arvada, Colo.) made 13 saves for the Penmen, while Assumption goalkeeper Allie Collins stopped eight of the 11 shots she faced in the opening 55:03. Emily Burton came on to play the final 4:57 and turned aside the only bid that came her way.
  • Senior Luci Albers (Eliot, Maine) added an assist.
  • Assumption doubled up Southern New Hampshire in shots, 32-16.
  • SNHU owned a 17-5 advantage in draw controls.
  • The Greyhounds were a perfect 3-for-3 on their free-position opportunities, while SNHU went 0-for-2.
NOTES
  • SNHU dips to 5-8 (.385) all-time in the Northeast-10 Championship, including 0-1 versus Assumption, as it made its first appearance since 2016.
  • Sophomore Skylar Renaud (E. Waterboro, Maine) ended the season as the team leader in goals (25) and points (28).
  • Junior Erin Gorton (Kennebunk, Maine) led the way with nine assists.
