Corcoran Sets New Steeplechase Record As SNHU Wins Last Chance Conference Qualifier

(Hooksett, N.H.) - Junior Ashley Corcoran (East Longmeadow, Mass.) ran to victory in the 3,000m steeplechase and SNHU won the Last Chance Conference Qualifier Meet at Penmen Stadium Saturday.

Highlights:
Corcoran completed the course in 11:07.86, which broke the program record set by Madison Brand two years ago.  Freshman Marisa Shiland (Sherman, Conn.) ran second in the race.

Junior Meghan Stroh (New Fairfield, Conn.) continued a strong spring season with a win in the 400m in 59.10, a new personal mark.  

Graduate student Jill Couto (Newton Junction, N.H.) ran to a win in the 800m event with a time of 2:23.68, in what was her first competitive event of the season.  Senior Olivia Coco (Bedford, N.H.) came in third place in the race at 2:33.81.

SNHU freshman Hannah Bradbury (Seekonk, Mass.) edged teammate freshman Kaitlyn O'Rourke (Braintree, Mass.) to win the 1500m in 5:06.86.

Sophomore Sarah Zarakotas (Deerfield, N.H.) won the 5,000m in 18:39.97, improving her personal best and finishing just ahead of Corcoran.  Freshman Kelsey Seamans (Methuen, Mass.) ran third.

Freshman Sydney Eccleston (Swanzey, N.H.) ran to victory in the 400m hurdles in 1:16.62 with junior Jordan Woodford (Berkley, Mass.) placing.

SNHU swept the throws - with victories by junior Kathleen Landry (Charlton, Mass.) in the shot put, freshman Laila Bunnitt (Lewiston, Maine) in the discus, freshman Tori Limone (Stoneham, Mass.) in the javelin, and junior Theresa Spear (Westerly, R.I.) in the hammer.  Spear's mark of 37.26m (122' 3") was a personal best, as was Limone's 38.77m (127' 2") in the javelin.

The Penmen finished first with 231.50 points, followed by Bentley University (125.5), Franklin Pierce University (95), and Saint Anselm College (36).
