Women's Track & Field Comes In Fourth For Best-Ever Finish At NE10 Outdoor Championships

(Springfield, Mass.) - The Southern New Hampshire Women's Track & Field Team finished in fourth place at the Northeast-10 Outdoor Championships held in Springfield, Mass. The finish is the best in the history of the program.  SNHU has improved its performance each year.  The previous best finish was a fifth-place in 2019.  The event was not held in 2020.

Saturday highlights:
Junior Meghan Stroh (New Fairfield, Conn.) finished fifth in the 400m with a new best time of 57.80.
Freshman Kelsey Seamans (Methuen, Mass.) won the 5k in a personal record of 18:04.88.
Junior Ashley Corcoran (East Longmeadow, Mass.) won the 3000m Steeplechase (11:10.45) and came back to finish fourth in the 5k (18:23.27).
Sophomore Sarah Zarakotas (Deerfield, N.H.) finished sixth in the 5k with a new PR (18:33.15).
Freshman Marisa Shiland (Sherman, Conn.) also ran the 3000m Steeplechase, finishing third with a PR of 11:52.06.
Freshman Riley McDermott (Kennebunkport, Maine) wound up in fourth place with a PR in the Steeplechase (11:59.40).
Graduate student Jill Couto (Newton Junction, N.H.) finished 6th in the 800m (2:23.28).
Freshman Tori Limone (Stoneham, Mass.) won the javelin competition with a throw of 36.62m.
Three SNHU athletes advanced to the discus finals, all set PR's- freshman Laila Bunnitt (Lewiston, Maine) finished fourth (36.11m), junior Theresa Spear (Westerly, R.I.) wound up in fifth place (34.88m), and junior Kathleen Landry wound up ninth (32.43m).

All three of the Penmen relay teams ran to season-best marks, scoring points:
4x100 - 6th place (50:38) - Stroh, freshman Ava Gravell (Windham, N.H.), freshman Adaobi Nwankwo (Nashua, N.H.), and freshman Sydney Eccleston (Swanzey, N.H.)
4x400 - 4th place (4:06.23)- Gravell, junior Olivia Coco (Bedford, N.H.), freshman Theresa Irving (Penacook, N.H.) and Stroh.
4x800 - 4th place (10:09.07)- freshman Kaitlyn O'Rourke (Braintree, Mass.), freshman Hannah Bradbury (Seekonk, Mass.), Shiland, and Couto
