Men's Lax Duo Garners NEILA All-Academic Team Honors

NEILA RELEASE

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – Senior Cole Jacobsen (Dartmouth, Mass.) and graduate student David Wiedenfeld (Londonderry, N.H.) of the Southern New Hampshire University men's lacrosse team were selected to the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) All-Academic Team, announced by the organization on Monday afternoon.

Jacobsen, a Business Administration & Marketing Major, finished fifth on the team in scoring with 16 goals and 23 points.  For his career, Jacobsen scored 50 goals and added 30 assists. 

Wiedenfeld, studying Sports Management, contributed 23 goals and 23 assists this season after transferring from Keene State College.

NEILA All-Academic Team nominees must have senior or graduate student standing, a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale, and be a significant enough player that he was nominated for at least All-Conference selection.

A record two hundred and twenty-one student-athletes were selected. Members of the teams are nominated by head coaches in Divisions I, II and III, and are comprised of student-athletes who have excelled both in the classroom and on the field over the course of their men's lacrosse career.  The list represents an increase of nearly 100 student-athletes from the 2019 selections. No teams were selected last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
