NO. ATTLEBORO, Mass. – The Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team was chosen second in Wednesday's NE10 Preseason Coaches' Poll.
Two-time defending NE10 Champion Adelphi University was a unanimous choice to finish first in the standings with five first-place votes and 25 points. The Penmen slotted in second with 20 points, while Franklin Pierce University (remaining first-place vote) and Assumption University tied for third with 15 points. Saint Michael's College (9) and Bentley University (6) rounded out the poll.
SNHU is led by head coach
Greg Coache, who enters his 17th season with the men's program. The Penmen finished last season 6-13 – their first sub-.500 campaign since 2014-15 – including 5-5 in NE10 play. SNHU earned the No. 3 seed in the NE10 Championship and eventually were edged by Franklin Pierce, 4-3, in the semifinal round.

Albert Modol (Lleida, Spain) is back after earning First Team honors at No. 2 doubles. Modol, who ended the season playing at No. 3 singles, was 9-10 in doubles play, including 7-3 in NE10 action. Classmate
Carlos Molero (Barcelona, Spain) also returns following Second Team nods at both No. 5 singles and No. 1 doubles. Molero was 8-4 in singles, including 4-2 in conference play, as well 7-4 in doubles and 6-1 in the league.
SNHU opens the season Saturday, Sept. 6 at the Stonehill Doubles Tournament. The Penmen kick off their home slate Saturday, Oct. 13 (2 p.m.) when they play host to Bentley at the Ouellette Stadium Tennis Courts.
