NO. ATTLEBORO, Mass. – The Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team was picked second in the NE10 Preseason Coaches' Poll that was released Wednesday.

Adelphi University, which has played in the NE10 final each of the last two seasons, was a unanimous choice to finish atop the poll with 36 points after securing all six possible first-place votes. The Penmen collected the remaining first-place nod and 30 points to slot in second. Assumption University and Franklin Pierce University tied for third with 24 points, while Saint Anselm College (15), Bentley University (11) and Saint Michael's College (7) rounded out the poll.

Head coach Greg Coache enters his 19th season with the women's program, coming off a 10-5 campaign that included a 5-3 mark in NE10 play. The Penmen earned the No. 4 seed in the NE10 Championship, secured a first round victory and fell to the eventual NE10 Champions in the semifinals.

Southern New Hampshire returns a trio of players from last season's roster, including NE10 All-Conference performer, sophomore Lois Tsui (Amsterdam, Netherlands). Tsui was a First Team choice at No. 2 doubles and also made the Third Team at No. 3 singles. Tsui was 16-3 in singles play, including 6-2 in NE10 action, and 14-4 in doubles, which included a perfect 8-0 mark in the league. Junior Nadya Lyekontseva (Kyiv, Ukraine) also returns after going 9-3 in singles play a year ago, including a 4-3 mark in the conference. She was also 7-7 in doubles, including 4-3 in the league. Classmate Dajana Abadzic (Weinstadt, Germany) is also back off an 8-9 singles campaign that also saw her go 4-4 in the NE10. She was 11-4 in doubles, as well as 5-3 in the conference.

SNHU opens the season Sunday, Sept. 7 at the Colby-Sawyer Jamboree. The Penmen kick off their home slate Saturday, Oct. 13 (5 p.m.) when they play host to Bentley at the Ouellette Stadium Tennis Courts.
