Freshman Sophie Chevalier (Charlton, N.Y.) amassed 26 kills and 10 digs, but the Southern New Hampshire University women's volleyball team lost a pair of matches at East Stroudsburg University's Koehler Fieldhouse on Saturday. The Penmen dropped a five-set affair with Georgian Court University, before falling, 3-1, to Queens (N.Y.) College.
KEY MOMENTS
- SNHU trailed, 2-1, in the Georgian Court match, but was ahead, 24-19, in the fourth set when the Lions ripped off three straight to put pressure on the Penmen. A kill from sophomore Jordyn Carroll (Moultonborough, N.H.), however, would send the match to a fifth set.
- Queens led, 19-16, in the opening set when three kills from Jean-Baptiste powered a 9-2 run that put the Penmen up, 1-0.
NOTES
- SNHU leads the all-time series with GCU, 3-2, while Queens owns a 3-1 mark versus the Penmen.
- Chevalier racked up a career-high 17 kills and seven digs against Georgian Court, while senior Alexandra Friebolin (Plant City, Fla.) added seven kills and six blocks.
- Sophomore Ariana Davila (Austin Texas) recorded a double-double against the Lions with 32 assists and 13 digs, and handed out 22 helpers versus Queens.
- Senior Brooke Vaughan (Truckee, Calif.) collected 16 digs and a pair of aces versus GCU, while sophomore Lailah Johnson (Senoia, Ga.) tallied 14 digs.
- Chevalier added nine more kills against Queens, with junior Daya Jean-Baptiste (Miami, Fla.) also registering nine kills, four digs and a pair of blocks.

- The Penmen are back in action Tuesday, Sept. 23 (6 p.m.) when they play host to Assumption University at the Stan Spirou Field House.
