NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. – The Southern New Hampshire University men's lacrosse team collected three Northeast-10 weekly awards on Monday after opening the season with a pair of wins over Felician University and No. 11 Molloy University last week.
Junior Joey Gallo (Derry, N.H.) was named the Northeast-10 Player of the Week after totaling seven goals and seven assists in the two victories. He led the Penmen with four goals in the 10–8 win over Molloy.
Junior Matt Roy (North Andover, Mass.) earned NE10 Goalkeeper of the Week honors. Roy played the first half against Felician, allowing just two goals, before posting an 18-save performance in the win over Molloy. It marks the second weekly award of his career, as he was also named Goalie of the Week on March 4 of last season.
Sophomore Lasse Volquardsen (Frankfurt, Germany), playing in his first collegiate game, made an immediate impact by setting a program record with seven goals and eight assists in the win over Felician last Monday. He was named the NE10 Rookie of the Week and added another goal against Molloy.
The Penmen begin a stretch of five consecutive road games on Sunday, Feb. 22, at Caldwell University. SNHU returns home on Sunday, March 29, for a major test against two-time defending national champion Adelphi University at 1 p.m. at Ouellette Stadium.
