Box Score WALTHAM, Mass.—Greg Reynolds (Scituate, Mass.) scored twice and added six assists but it was not enough as the Southern New Hampshire University men's lacrosse team dropped a 15-10 decision to the Falcons of Bentley University on Wednesday evening. With the loss, the Penmen fall to 2-7 overall and 1-5 in the Northeast-10 Conference, while the win boosts the Falcons to 4-4 overall and 4-1 in NE-10 play.
After one quarter of play, SNHU would find themselves down 7-3, but the visiting Penmen would outscore Bentley 5-1 in the second quarter to enter halftime at an 8-8 tie. The Falcons would score seven-straight goals following halftime to take the 15-8 lead. The Penmen would round out the fourth quarter with two goals of their own.
Keith Merluzzo (Billerica, Mass.) added three goals and two assists to the Penmen offense. Andrew Brown (Marshfield, Mass.) added a goal and an assist, while Peter Vacca (Billerica, Mass.) and Marc Novaco (Chelmsford, Mass.) added single goals.
Brendan Grant led the Falcons with three goals and an assist, while Matt Boilard added three goals. Dan Keefer contributed two goals and an assist to the Falcons offense, which outshot the Penmen 33-22 on the evening.
Eric Gunst (Exeter, N.H.) saw 45 minutes of action in net for the Penmen and posted nine saves while allowing eight goals. Brendan O'Brien (Hopkinton, Mass.) allowed seven goals in 15 minutes of action. Mike O'Neil earned the win for Bentley, posting six saves in a complete-game effort.
Southern New Hampshire returns to action on Saturday, hosting Pace at 4:00 p.m. in Northeast-10 Conference action at Larkin Field.
