MANCHESTER, N.H. – Former Southern New Hampshire University men's soccer player Gabe Mercier is currently in preseason camp with the New England Revolution of Major League Soccer. Mercier is one of eight non-roster players currently in camp with the team.
Mercier, a native of Middleboro, Mass., played for the Penmen from 2005-08. Over his four-year career, the midfielder appeared in 75 games with 61 starts and totaled five goals and eight assists for 18 points. In 2008, Mercier, who served as team captain, was a Northeast-10 Second Team selection after totaling three assists on the season. In 2007 he finished with a pair of goals, including the lone goals in a pair of 1-0 victories.
Mercier has appeared in reserve matches for the Revolution as a guest player. He most recently played for the New Hampshire Phantoms of the Premier Development League and has also played for the Western Mass. Pioneers, who were at the time a member of the USL Second Division.
