THE PENMEN: Southern New Hampshire is coming off of a 3-0 road loss against Northeast-10 opponent Assumption College...in a non-conference matchup Wednesday night, the Greyhounds blanked the Penmen with game scores of 25-17, 25-22, and 25-19...offensively leading the way for the Penmen this season has been senior Erica Solomon and freshman Emma Houlihan...Solomon, an outside hitter has totaled 37 kills while averaging 2.31 kills per set...the middle hitting freshman, Houlihan, is leading the team in kills with 44, while averaging 2.75 per game...defensively for the Penmen, freshman Maeghan Higgins and sophomore Kendra Mikuta have each totaled 47 and 48 digs respectively...Mikuta also leads the Penmen in assists with 110.
THE EAGLES: The Post University Eagles earned their first win against Concordia College Thursday night with a 3-2 score...Kelli Reynolds has been leading the way offensively for the Eagles while totaling a team-high 37 kills and averaging 2.64 kills per set...Reynolds has also tallied 14 digs along with four blocks...Emiily Wilman has 25 kills for the Eagles along with 31 digs..Defensively, the Eagles are led by Vanessa Ramos who has 50 digs on the season while averaging 3.6 per set...in the setting position, Julia Slyaktina has totaled 94 assists to help the Eagles, she averages 6.7 assists per set.
THE BEARS: New York Institute of Technology opened their season with a win Friday against Caldwell...NYIT returns 10 players while welcoming three newcomers to the squad.
THE MATCHUPS: SNHU vs. NYIT: The Penmen went up against the Bears in the 2009 season, while losing 3-1 with game scores of 25-23, 14-25, 25-21, and 25-18.
NYIT vs. Post: NYIT holds a 2-0 record over the Eagles in the past five years...in 2009 the Bears beat Post 3-0, and repeated the sweep in 2010.
SNHU vs. Post: The Penmen faced the Eagles three times in the last five years in the 2009, 2008, and 2007 seasons...posting a 2-1 record against the Eagles...SNHU prevailed over the Eagles in 2009 and 2007 with 3-0 wins, while losing in 2008 3-2.
