NSCAA All-East Region Team

MANCHESTER, N.H. – A total of five players from the Division II national champion Southern New Hampshire University men's soccer team were recently named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Continental Tire All-East Region Team.  Junior Yannick Kabala (Manchester, N.H.), senior Pierre Omanga (Paris, France), sophomore Dominic Samuel (Toronto, Ontario) and graduate student Callum Williams (Ossett, England) were First Team selections, while junior Miguel Carneiro (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) was selected to the Second Team.

Kabala, a midfielder, was a Daktronics Second Team All-Region selection as well as a Northeast-10 First Team All-Conference choice.  Starting all 24 games, the center midfielder was essential to SNHU's success as the Penmen ranked among the national leaders in offense and defense.  Kabala was named the Most Outstanding Defensive Player of the 2013 NCAA Division II Championship and a member of the All-Tournament Team.

Omanga, the Northeast-10 Player of the Year and an NE-10 First Team selection as well as a Daktronics First Team All-America choice, finished the season ranked third nationally in total goals with 21 and seventh in points with 45 as he had 21 goals and three assists on the season.  Omanga tallied 10 game-winning goals on the season and scored at least one goal in 14 of SNHU's 24 games.  Omanga was also the Most Valuable Player of the Northeast-10 Championship after totaling three goals in three games, including the game's only goal in a 1-0 win over Merrimack in the final, and was named the Most Outstanding Offensive Player of the NCAA Championship.

Samuel and Williams were integral members of a Penmen defensive unit that led the country in team goals-against average (0.45) and finished seventh in shutout percentage, recording 13 clean sheets in 24 games.  Samuel, a Northeast-10 First Team and Daktronics Second Team All-Region selection, started all but one game and finished with three goals and an assist on the season, including two goals in the East Region final against LIU Post.  Williams, the Northeast-10 Defensive Player of the Year and a Daktronics First Team All-American, started all 24 contests and finished with two goals and two assists, including a tally in the NCAA semifinal against Rockhurst.

Carneiro, a midfielder who garnered Northeast-10 Second Team accolades, started all 24 games for SNHU and finished with three goals and six assists for 12 points, tying for second on the team in assists.  He scored the biggest goal of Southern New Hampshire's season on Saturday, breaking a scoreless tie against Carson-Newman in the national championship game with his strike with just under 17 minutes to play.

Southern New Hampshire captured the second NCAA Division II national championship in the history of the program in 2013, finishing 22-1-1 overall and ending the season on a 23-game unbeaten streak.
