O'Hanlon's Top-20 Finish Highlights Women's Cross Country's Performance at NEIC4A Championships

Result: Southern New Hampshire University 28th/35 

Senior Laura O'Hanlon (Dedham, Mass.) finished No. 18 overall and No. 3 amongst NCAA Division II student-athletes to lead the Southern New Hampshire University women's cross country team at the NEIC4A Championships at Franklin Park in Boston on Saturday. 

O'Hanlon cruised across the finish line in 18:21, which is the second fastest 5-kilometer race time in program history, to check into the top-20 of an event that consisted of 234 student-athletes from NCAA Divisions I, II and III. She narrowly missed on the school record of 18:16, which was set by Emma Lundberg at the 2010 UMass-Dartmouth Invitational. 

Freshman Jill Couto (Newton Junction, N.H.) was the second Southern New Hampshire finisher on Saturday in 19:45, and classmate Jill Dieterich (Commack, N.Y.) checked in next with a time of 19:57. Fellow freshman Madison Brand (Valhalla, N.Y.) completed the course in 21:34 and sophomore Ashley Dennis (Coventry, R.I.) rounded out the Penmen top-five with a 21:55 showing. Freshman Alanna Murphy (Nashua, N.H.) completed the SNHU contingent in 22:41.

Notes:
- O'Hanlon now owns four of the top-10 fastest 5K times in school history and six of the top-20. She has the second, third and fourth fastest times, the latter two coming during the 2014 season.
- Stonehill College's Nicole Borofski captured the individual title with a time of 17:28.
- The University of New Hampshire won the team event and was followed by Harvard University, the University of Vermont, Northeastern University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

What's Next:
The Penmen return to action on Saturday, October 22 when they make the trip to Easton, Massachusetts for the Northeast-10 Championship, which will be hosted by Stonehill College.
