2016 NEILA EAST-WEST SENIOR ALL-STAR GAME ROSTERS
NEWTON, Mass. – Seniors Cameron Joyce (Braintree, Mass.) and Eric Johnson (West Suffield, Conn.) of the Southern New Hampshire University men's lacrosse team have been selected to participate in the 2016 New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) East-West Senior All-Star Game. The annual contest, which honors graduating student-athletes from NCAA Divisions I, II and III, will be held on June 3 at 7 p.m. at Golden Bear Stadium on the campus of Western New England University.
The 52 participants are nominated for the game by their head coaches, and teams are selected based on career accomplishments. Joyce and Johnson are two of seven student-athletes chosen from Northeast-10 Conference institutions and will both represent the West team.
Joyce, who was the 2016 NEILA Player of the Year as well as a First Team All-NE-10 choice and one of the top offensive threats in the nation this season, amassed 85 points on 51 goals and 34 assists in 16 games. He finished the season ranked No. 5 in the country in points per game (5.32), No. 7 in goals per game (3.19) and No. 9 in assists per contest (2.13). The captain wrapped up his final campaign at Southern New Hampshire second in the Northeast-10 in both goals and points while checking in at No. 3 in assists. He became just the third Penmen in school history to reach the 200-career-point plateau on April 30, and graduates third in program history in points (202) and goals (136), and tied for seventh in career assists (66).
Johnson was recently named All-NEILA selection for the first time in his career after tallying a career-high 19 points. The captain appeared in all 16 games this season and scored four goals while assisting on 15 others. Johnson grabbed 10 groundballs, caused a pair of turnovers and made his way onto the scoresheet in 11 contests for the Penmen. He had at least one point in nine of Southern New Hampshire's final 11 games, including a goal and an assist against Pace University in the Northeast-10 Championship quarterfinal on May 3 in the first-ever playoff win for the Penmen, his seventh multi-point outing of the year.
Southern New Hampshire wrapped up its 2016 season with an overall mark of 10-6 that featured a 7-4 record in the Northeast-10 Conference. The Penmen advanced to NE-10 Championship semifinals for the first time in program history and saw an eight-win improvement from the 2015 campaign.
