Senior Laura O'Hanlon (Dedham, Mass.) placed third overall as the Southern New Hampshire University women's cross country team finished sixth at Franklin Pierce University's fourth annual Bruce Kirsh Cup on Saturday morning at the Hopkinton (N.H.) Fairgrounds.
O'Hanlon, making her season debut, completed the five-kilometer run in a time of 19 minutes, 1.2 seconds – less than two seconds behind the second-place finisher.
Freshman Madison Brand (Valhalla, N.Y.) was the next fastest Penmen as she turned in a time of 20:09.0 to finish 15th, while classmate Jill Dieterich (Commack, N.Y.) was just behind in 19th at 20:17.6.
Senior Felicia Dowling (Merrimack, N.H.) earned a 45th-place finish as she crossed the line at 21:08.6, with sophomore Ashley Dennis (Coventry, R.I.) rounding out the Penmen scorers by finishing 73rd in a time of 22:01.1.
Freshman Alanna Murphy (Nashua, N.H.) clocked a time of 22:25.4, while fellow freshman Savannah Reinitzer (Litchfield, N.H.) and senior Devanee Ebert (Reading, Mass.) capped off the Southern New Hampshire finishers with respective times of 26:11.7 and 26:15.3.
Notes:
- Unattached runner Rebecca Celorio captured the event in 18:34.1, while Southern Connecticut State University's Natasha Fitzpatrick was the first collegiate team runner to score as she finished second in 18:59.3.
- The race featured 136 student-athletes from 11 competing institutions.
- Merrimack College claimed the meet after placing their five scoring harriers in the 11 through 20 spots.
- Just 13 points separated the third- through sixth-place teams.
