Notes: The squad has been pre-season ranked sixth in the Eastern Region by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) … the Penmen look to build off the experience the young squad gained in 2017, when they placed in the top 10 in five of the six meets … Southern New Hampshire returns five letterwinners from a season ago, a group that is comprised of one senior and three juniors … junior Jill Couto (Newton Junction, N.H.) paced the team all year, capturing her first career individual titles at both the Vermont Tech Invitational and the Bruce Kirsch Cup … Couto also finished 13th at the NE10 Championship to earn All-Conference Second Team honors, as well as 17th at the NCAA East Regional to claim USTFCCCA All-Region accolades … sophomore Maura Coakley (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) finished second on the team at both the Temple Invite and Vermont Tech Invitational … junior Madison Brand (Valhalla, N.Y.) just missed top 50 at the NE10 Championships, while finishing second on the team … fellow junior Jill Dieterich (Commack, N.Y.) finished second on the team at the NCAA East Regional at Amherst, N.Y. … Southern New Hampshire kicks off its 2018 schedule Saturday when it competes in the 37th annual Shacklette Invitational held on the campus of Saint Anselm. The Penmen are participating for the first time since 2015.
