The Southern New Hampshire University women's track and field team wrapped up the season opening competition at the Black and Gold Challenge, Orlando, Florida.
Two personal bests were recorded by sophomore Maura Coakley (Yorktown Heights, N.Y) and junior Madison Brand (Valhalla, N.Y.) in the 800m. Coakley finished 15th in 2:26.07, while Brand ran 2:28.10, good for 18th place. Freshman Olivia Coco (Bedford, N.H.) also competed, posting a 2:29.83 for 20th place.
Junior Alanna Murphy (Nashua, N.H.) ran a 15.92 in the 100 hurdles - and a 1:15.03 in the 400 hurdles on Saturday. Murphy also anchored the 4x100 relay team which finished in 8th place. Freshman Meghan Stroh (New Fairfield, Conn.), freshman Kate Hall (Pawcatuck, Conn.), junior Sam Cummings (Peabody, Mass.) and Murphy ran a 51.19. Murphy also competed in the 4x400.
Other top performances for the Penmen:
Kate Hall ran a 13.04 in the 100m and a 26.61 in the 200m.
Freshman Ashley Corcoran (East Longmeadow, Mass.) was the top SNHU runner in the 400m hurdles with a 1:10.18.
Junior Jill Dieterich (Commack, N.Y.) finished 15th in the 3000m in 11:18.35.
Up next - The Penmen women's track and field team will compete in the Corsair Invitational at UMass Dartmouth on March 30.
