van der Doorn, a four-year member of the field hockey program (2016-19), played in 76 games, including 75 starts during her career, amassing 89 points on 36 goals and 17 assists. She ranks first in the program's record book in games played, second in points and goals, and sixth in assists. van der Doorn graduated as the program leader in games played, points and goals, while ranking second in assists.

van der Doorn had a huge senior year in 2019, earning National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-America First Team, NFHCA East Regional Player of the Year and NE10 Player of the Year (2019) honors, in addition to being named the NE10 Woman of the Year. A two-time NE10 All-Conference First Team (2018, 2019) selection, van der Doorn collected many academic accolades, including NFHCA Division II National Scholar-Athlete (2019), NFHCA Scholar of Distinction (2019), NFHCA National Academic Squad (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019) and NE10 Academic All-Conference (2017, 2018, 2019).

The Penmen went 44-32 (.579), qualified for the program's first NE10 Championship (2018), reached the NE10 finals (2019) and advanced to the NCAA postseason for the first time (2019) during van der Doorn's tenure.
