Hall of Fame
Fernandes was a four-year member of the men's tennis program (2015-19), and went 80-21 in singles play and 59-37 all-time in doubles during his career. He graduated as the program's all-time leader in singles wins, while ranking second in singles winning percentage (.792), third in doubles wins and sixth in doubles winning percentage (.615).
Fernandes was named the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Region Senior Player of the Year in 2019 and, impressively, was a three-time NE10 Vern Cox Player of the Year (2017, 2018, 2019) and four-time NE10 All-Conference First Team selection in singles (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019). Fernandes was also a two-time NE10 First Teamer in doubles (2017, 2019) and twice earned a Second Team spot in doubles (2016, 2018). Fernandes also came up big when it mattered most, earning NE10 Championship Most Outstanding Player on two occasions (2017, 2018), while four times hearing his name called for the NE10 All-Championship Team (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019). Fernandes also shined in the classroom, taking home CoSIDA Academic All-America (2018, 2019), CoSIDA Academic All-District (2018, 2019), NE10 Sport Excellence Award (2017, 2018, 2019) and NE10 Academic All-Conference (2017, 2018, 2019) honors during his career.
Over the course of his four years, the Penmen went 63-26 (.708), captured four NE10 titles, made four NCAA tournament trips and advanced to the Round of 16 for the first time in program history (2019).
